18-Year-Old Arrested in Evansville Following Vehicle Theft and Disturbance at Local Convenience Store

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — An 18-year-old man has been arrested and faces multiple charges after a theft from a vehicle and an incident at a local convenience store Tuesday evening.

According to Evansville Police Department (EPD) officials, Donnovan Johnson was observed acting suspiciously at the Thorntons convenience store on East Morgan Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Employees reported that Johnson was causing a disturbance inside the store.

Officers learned that Johnson had attempted to use someone else’s identification to purchase alcohol but was denied service and asked to leave by the clerk. During a subsequent search, police discovered Johnson was carrying two knives and a wallet reported stolen from a vehicle the previous night.

Johnson was taken into custody and transported to Vanderburgh County Jail. He now faces several charges, including theft from a vehicle, unauthorized entry of a vehicle, criminal trespass, and resisting law enforcement.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
